Grade 9 Mathematics – Congruency & Similarity

COURSE OVERVIEW

This course develops learners’ understanding of congruent and similar geometric figures, with particular emphasis on triangles.

Learners will distinguish between congruency and similarity, identify corresponding sides and angles, and apply the conditions required to establish whether triangles are congruent or similar. They will use these relationships to determine unknown angles and lengths and provide appropriate geometric reasons.

The course emphasises logical reasoning, correct mathematical notation and geometric justification, establishing an important foundation for formal geometric proofs in FET Phase Mathematics.

Through structured video lessons, worked examples, quizzes, exam-style questions and a mastery assessment, learners will develop confidence in applying congruency and similarity to increasingly complex geometric problems.
