Grade 8 Mathematics – Mean, Median & Mode

COURSE OVERVIEW

In this course, learners will develop a strong understanding of the mean, median and mode and how these statistical measures are used to describe and summarise sets of data.

Learners will learn how to calculate each measure correctly, determine which measure is most appropriate in different situations, compare datasets, and solve problems involving missing values and statistical information.

The course builds on the skills developed in Collecting Data and Organising Data and prepares learners to analyse and interpret data more effectively.

The course includes video lessons, worked examples, quizzes and a mastery test to strengthen learners’ statistical reasoning and prepare them for Grade 8 CAPS Mathematics assessments.

• Compare the mean, median and mode of a dataset.
• Determine which measure is most appropriate for a given situation.
• Determine missing values when a mean is provided.
• Interpret mean, median and mode within real-world contexts.
• Solve Grade 8 CAPS exam-style questions involving measures of central tendency.
